The best surf spots in Morocco
Morocco concentrates its waves on the Atlantic coast, around Agadir. From famous Taghazout to the quiet beaches of the south, here are the spots that count.
The Moroccan Atlantic coast in early morning, a wave peeling along the sandThe best surf spots in Morocco are on the Atlantic coast, between Essaouira and Sidi Ifni, with a heavy concentration around Agadir. You'll find both world-famous waves and beaches that have stayed quiet, further south.
The best-known spots, north of Agadir
Taghazout is the reference, forty-five minutes north of Agadir: long, powerful right-handers, but a lot of people. All around — Tamraght, Imsouane and its endless wave — the feel is the same: excellent, but busy.
The calmer spots, to the south
Heading south, the coast empties. Around Mirleft, Aglou and Sidi Ifni, the same Atlantic swell arrives on beaches where you can count the surfers on one hand.
- Taghazout — the star, world-class right-handers, but packed.
- Imsouane — one of the country's longest waves, bohemian feel.
- Essaouira — more wind and kitesurf, for those who like a town.
- Mirleft & Sidi Ifni — the quiet south, ideal for progressing in peace.
Which to choose?
To learn or to breathe far from the crowd, the south. For the big winter days and the buzz, north of Agadir. Many do both: the coast is easy to drive.
We put our house down in the south, in Mirleft — for the silence before the first wave. If that stretch of coast speaks to you, come and surf it with us, un thé au bout du monde.
